May 9, 2023 Leave a Comment

I’ve been told that ‘Sinister’ is one of the scariest movies of all time. I don’t know how this was my first time finally watching ‘Sinister’ but better late than never, right? I asked y’all for the best horror movies to watch and this one kept being recommended. After taking another look I noticed people have been telling me to watch this movie for at least two years. Today I will be finally watching and reacting to one of the scariest movies of all time: Sinister (2012).

What Is Sinister (2012) About?

Sinister is a horror movie about an author that moves his family into a haunted house so that he can write another best selling true crime novel. This movie includes ghosts, gore, mystery, and of course, good old fashion jump scares.

My Thoughts While Watching Sinister For The First Time

Blumhouse Produced Sinister (2012)

I actually watched the trailer for this movie for a change and once I saw the Blumhouse Productions opening I knew I would be in for a ride. This movie stars Ethan Hawke so I’m feeling pretty confident it won’t be horrible.

Wait, That’s the Opening

They are still unloading the moving boxes and already have the police at their house. Law enforcement not being on your side in a horror movie is a recipe for disaster.

Who Made the Film? Where is Stephanie?

Ellison aggressively writing down these questions on his notepad while drinking whiskey is the most dramatic moment I’ve seen so far in this movie.

“Daddy, I Can’t Find the Bathroom”

The thought of opening a door in the middle of the night and a child being there, stresses me out more than a little bit. I need Ashley to make some noise when she’s moving around the house.

Trevor

Now why is Trevor outside scared, shook, and panicking.

Is that wind or a ghost?

Dogs be KNOWING

Wait is this a ghost movie? My mouth actually dropped.

A writer that’s a drunk with an unhappy wife. Groundbreaking.

Trevor sprawled out of the moving box screaming was enough free birth control to last awhile. All of a sudden Ashley doesn’t seem too bad.

Snakes Don’t Have Feet

I’m sorry but the deputy saying “snakes don’t have feet” to Ellison should not have made me laugh that hard. Good to know the author has one fan in town at least.

At Least the Dog Has Some Sense

When the group popped up behind Ellison I jumped so hard I woke up Bonnie (my pet cat). I have no clue who the mystery killer is supposed to be but I’m on the edge of my seat now.

The Lawnmower Scene

Now who allowed me to start this movie this late at night? Nothing could have prepared me for the lawnmower scene. Click here to rewatch the scene if you dare.

Nope!

I screamed when he fell down the attic ladder after seeing that. I’m not sure if his house is being invaded by ghosts or a creepy small army of children. As I’m typing this the family is getting pulled over by the police. I’m so tense and stressed for them I barely want to blink because I do not want to miss anything.

Good Night Daddy

I can barely type because my anxiety is so high watching ‘Sinister’ but in a good way. Seeing a child dragging an axe is exceptionally creepy. Horror movies that involve children or dolls always creep me out a little more than usual.

My Final Thoughts

The shot at the end of the movie where Ashley is seen with a bloody hand drawing a picture is enough to give you nightmares. But the final shot of the movie just scared me so bad I’m about to watch cartoons the rest of the night.

‘Sinister’ isn’t the scariest movie I’ve personally seen but it was entertaining. What scary movie should I watch next? Have you seen this movie? Let me know in the comments.
